Web Design
My goal is to create a user experience that is effective and memorable for both its style and its funcationality. The following excerpt (borrowed with respect) from Smashing Magazine, Oct. 5th, 2010 effectively articulates my philosophy on user experience design (UXD).
"A website’s success hinges on just one thing: how users perceive it. 'Does this website give me value? Is it easy to use? Is it pleasant to use?' These are the questions that run through the minds of visitors as they interact with our products, and they form the basis of their decisions on whether to become regular users. User experience design is all about striving to make them answer 'Yes' to all of those questions."
If your company already has a brand and marketing strategy in place, I will work with you to create a web presence that complements and extends your carefully crafted identity. If you do not have marketing materials already developed, I can work with you to create a brand identity, including logo, letterhead, brochures... whatever a growing company needs to thrive.
Web Development
Your site can have the hottest design online, but it must also function smoothly. No one will stick around for broken links, inconsistent browser support, missing information, buggy shopping carts and other Bad Things. I try to avoid those issues when I build a site... that's just the kind of guy I am.
A web site may serve many purposes and functions. Here are some features commonly included with sites I have built:
- Blog
- Forms (contact, survey, application, etc.)
- Photo/video gallery
- eCommerce
- FTP/file transfer
- Client log-in/Restricted content
You can see examples of my design and development abilities in my Portfolio.
eLearning
I have created over a dozen Flash-based elearning courses for the hotel industry. I guess you could say it's my niche.
While any standard elearning course will generally follow a lesson/exercise/quiz paradigm, I have always tried to go above and beyond the basic expectations to offer a more engaging learning experience. I like to incorporate fun and games into a project any chance I get (until I get caught and have to remove it.)
